Hi Everyone,
I'm in the process of painting my cub 1000. I bought a quart of cub cadet yellow but the can didn't provide mixing instructions or compatiable primers. The paint code is 759-3263. I don't know whether its enamel, oil/water based, or anything else other than its cub cadet yellow serial # 759-3263. I'd like to find out the paint/thinner ratio and compatiable primers and thinners. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Rod. Your information was very helpful and I plan to take your advice about going back to the dealer.

Hi Gmorrow,

I hope this doesn't come across as being sarcastic because it is not meant to be. I would return the paint to wherever you purchased it for a full refund. I would have no faith at all in a product that the manufacturer didn't provide the most basic usage instructions directly on the can. Things like type of paint, recommended primer and thinning/reducing instructions are so basic that the product can not be properly used without such information. At least in my opinion.

You might want to investigate PPG's OMNI line of cost-effective automotive paints. The PPG listing that I have shows a "International Cub Cadet Yellow" as number 81518. The basic instructions will be provided on the can label and more complete usage instructions will be given on the technical data sheet for the particular formulation. Data sheets are available on-line or at the dealer that sells the paint. If you want a basic acrylic enamel you would look for PPG OMNI MAE 81518. Here is the data sheet for that particular paint. I am not familiar with the cub paint colors so I cannot verify that the number is correct - only that it shows up in a listing of PPG tractor colors.

You generally have too much time and expense invested in painting a tractor to proceed on the basis of an unknown paint formulation using an unproven thinner/reducer and no manufacturer's instructions. It becomes a crap shoot that has the potential for unwanted problems...not worth it.
