Am about to paint a truck with owner-supplied Omni AE paint. I've noticed several of you guys recommend this line of paint for tractors also. I have not used it before and would appreciate any info you could give me, mixing instructions, air line pressure, etc. What I have is Omni MAE acrylic enamel 3800 A Olympic White paint, MH 202 hardner and Delstar DTR 602 acrylic enamel reducer. Thanks for any suggestions.

That is good advice to check the P sheets. I beleive the 202 hardener is for the urethanes, I have been using the recommended 101. I have found that even using all P sheet recommended products with this paint that cure time can be 2 to 3 weeks to get full hardness and solvent reisitance. Even at that time, areas around the gas filler have problems.

This address will get you there faster than the PPG site, which is rather slow -- sorry I haven't figured out how to do a clickable link:http://www.autobodydepot.net/depotdocs.html.

CN,

It's really easy once you know how :o). There are two basic ways to do it. The easiest way is to simply fill in the two spaces below the box you normally post in. One is called "Optional Link URL" where you put the complete web address of the thing you want to link to and the other is called "Link Title" which is where you put the word or words you wish to show up in your post as a clickable link to that web address. This method will always cause the clickable link to show up at the bottom of your post and you are limited to a single clickable link per post message.

The other way is for you to embed some html coding within your message that causes any particular word or words you choose to show up as a clickable link right within your message. With this method you can use multiple clickable links per message, spread throughout your message as you choose. The coding looks like this (except replace [ with < a rel="nofollow"nd ] with >):

[a href=URL]link word(s)[/a]

Where "URL" is the complete web address and "link word(s)" is the word or words you want to show up as the clickable link to that particular web address. I had to use [ and ] instead of < a rel="nofollow"nd > to make to coding show up. The space between the a and href is important and there should be no other spaces between the first [ and the last ].

Here's a real world example. The word "here" below replaces "link word(s)" and the web address "http://autobodydepot.net/depotdocs.html" replaces "URL" in the above example:

PPG OMNI technical data sheets are available [a href=http://autobodydepot.net/depotdocs.html]here[/a] in .pdf format.

When [ and ] are replaced with < a rel="nofollow"nd > a reader sees the following:

PPG OMNI technical data sheets are available here in .pdf format.

Thanks, I printed your info. I hadn't paid any attention to the optional link stuff for some reason, although it's there right in front of me. That puts me in the same class as those who post a tractor serial number and want to know what year it is -- clearly says "serial numbers" to the left of the page. Examples of lack of brain-eye coordination -- oh well.

The Omni reducer should be MR, the DTR is for Delstar as noted in the name. I am not sure about compatability and would double check it. Get the product sheets as Dozerboss suggested to get all needed info. The mix ratios are printed on the cans. The only thing I have ever adjusted is the reducer ratio so it will lay down nice out of my HVLP. I must also include my standard precautions about using products with ISOs (your hardener) Please do not risk permemant damage to your health and use an air supplied mask.

You can try printing out the product sheets from their website www.ppgrefinish.com Go to product info, then paint lines. It won't work unless you have cookies on.

They have the info your asking, even what grit sand paper to use and dry/recoat and buff times. Your paint should be there unless its older paint.
