Hi all, I will be restoring my first tractor this summer, a 36 B JD, I plan to have the hood pro done at a body shop, but I was wondering if I can use a rattle can to paint the smaller parts (fan, fly wheel, ect.) as I get them clean and ready for paint? I repainted a 111 JD lawn tractor with them and had real good luck on the hood and fenders. I used TY6541 with a fan spray from the local JD dealer, That was 5 years ago and it still shines nice and waxes good (no green on the wax rag) it is stored inside and used to mow and blow snow. The B will also be stored in side and only paraded Any input will be greatful, Thanks from Minn.

Two things; I set the cans in a pan of very warm water and warm the paint up.It gives the propellent more umph amd makes the paint go on a lot smoother and then be sure to SHAKE ,SHAKE,SHAKE.That breaks up any pigment that is stuck together inside the can.

Thanks for the info about the water! Do you use them or spray all parts with a gun. I am wondering about paint quality too?

Some of both.I'll use a gun on most jobs but for small stuff and sometimes for touchup I'll use a bomb.If its done right is is impossible to tell if it is a gun or a bomb job.
