Should have asked this in my earlier post, needed to know if it is possible to wet sand epoxy primer with 400 grit? Once I get my primer surfacer smooth, I thought I might put down a coat or two of epoxy primer, then top coat. Or is this over-kill. I really like the epoxy primer and the way it lays down, but just want to make sure I can get it smooth enough for the top coat on sheet metal. Thanks again for your help!

I have only used PPG Omni 170 epoxy -- You will sand right thru it. Sand the surfacer, not the epoxy. Yes it's overkill, your sanded surfacer will be much smoother than sanded or unsanded epoxy, regardless of the way each looks when it is applied. The epoxy I am familiar with is not meant to be sanded. I have tried, without much success.

Thanks for the info CNKS. You guys are great help. The mp170 is what I am using, and as you said , I would probably end up sanding through it.The surfacer I am using is the 181 and I found out I can get it very smooth, so I will just lay the top coat down on the 181. I think it will all turn out well. Thanks again for the advice.
