Thanks for all of the very helpful comments regarding spot guns. Sounds like that is the way to go for this sort of thing. Would anyone mind recommending an HVLP spot gun that would provide good quality but not a professional model with a $200+ price tag? I have a 2HP air compressor.

Thanks again

Paul

Most likely you will find an import spot gun in the lower price ranges. My hvlp gravity feed Sharpe spot gun was over $100 from Napa (made in USA). That was several years ago. It's unusual as the cup is mounted on the side giving it a lower height profile for tight spots. I have an import hvlp Ingersol Rand gravity feed i bought for primer for $60. (Lowes home center--lowes.com) So far it works as well as the sharpe. ( A shame brands that used to be made in the US have gone off shore like Ingersol, Ridgid tools and Delta tools as well as some Dewalt)

Also harbour freight tools. com makes the same gravity gun for about $40 (import-china). Good results, got one as a gift and use it for car interior paints. Tractor supply also is a source for import guns, but i don't think they are in N.J. Eclipse makes a convential spot gun for about $50, (Eastwood co. in PA). Another brand that has gone offshore. Harbour freight makes a copy of it for $30. Guns at a auto paint store will be the most expensive regardless of brand. Sata is another import that rivals Sharpe carried at my PPG supplier. Others are Binks and Devil bliss which offers affordable choices, but not familar with their spot gun lines. Binks used to be all USA high $ maybe still are. I like Sharpe, which makes the spray guns Snap-on tools sell as Snap-on brand. Thats usually my finish gun. If anyone is in the used full size hvlp gun market, Sharpe and Snap-on are one in the same and the nozzles and tips interchange. Pep boys also has an import spot gun, don't recall the brand and Northern tools as well. All i have seen are gravity feed, if anyone knows of an Hvlp spot gun that is not gravity feed, please post.
