First used this primer yesterday. At cleanup found build up of solids in bottom of cup. Is this normal? Wondering if should continously shake cup when using? I've always used Laquer Thinner to clean up but this primer was not as easy to disolve as other products. What do you fellows use to clean guns when using this primer? Bought gallon of MS100 general cleaner today but have not tried it yet. Thanks for any help

The MS100 works fine. 182 has a pot life of 1 hour at 70* F, less if it is warmer. If you bought it new you should have had your supplier shake the stuff before you left. A full can is hard to shake or stir. I do shake some between coats, and have not noticed the settling problem--yours may have been beginning to set up. I try not to let the short pot life paints set at all after I'm done.

Thanks CNKS; I had just purchased it that morning and they did shake it. Guess I need to stir more when I use additional MP182. I will be using more to surface my tractor sheetmetal. How many coats of this primer can one use to obtain smooth surface? I intend to use a final coat of MP170 as sealer when I get satisfactory surface. Thanks

The number of coats depends on how good or bad your sheet metal is. I use 3 or 4, perhaps 2 occasionally, you just want it smooth, so that it fills the depressions. You don't want a lot of build up, because with the 170+182+topcoat you can get it too thick. All coats, primer+surfacer+topcoat are considered when determining thickness of paint. You do not need the additional 170 as a sealer. The initial 170 seals the surface from rust and provides adhesion for the 182. The topcoat seals the 182. Also the 170 does not usually flow out well enough to use as a final surface under topcoat on sheet metal, it will be smoother without the 182. Rod will correct me if I'm wrong!
