I've painted two Farmall Tractors in the last few years with PPG Omni AE Paints. Used MP 170 Epoxy primer on both and MP 182 surfacer on one. The color coat is MAE 71319, OEM 2150, INTL HARVESTER RED. Both turned out very nice for an amature painter like me. I'm about to paint another Farmall, and would like to use the same paints, but.. and my question is. When my tractors are parked next to other Farmalls at the tractor shows, mine seem to have a slightly "Orangish" tone to the Red color. Standing alone they look great, but compared to others, the others look like a deeper, More "Cherryier" (for lack of a better word) Red. Has anyone else experienced this with the PPG paint, OR am I doing something wrong in the application which would cause this? I love the ease of use of the Omni and the outcomes and would like to stick with it, but would like a slightly deeper Red. By the way I use the MAE 3822 A OEM 13 General Motors, for the silver rims and have received numerous compliments on them.

I'm sure you mean 71310, which does have an orange tint, seems to become a little darker with time, but not much. I do not know if the orange tint is correct or not. I have not used the OEM Case-IH 2150 paint, my understanding is that it is not as orange. Since Case-IH does not make their own paint, who knows what is correct? That color is for 1949-up tractors. IH 50 is PPG 70019, for pre-1949, but I have not used it. I might try the 3822, I have been using 8568, also a GM color, for the rims. I think 8568 may be a little too gray, but it's ok.

Thanks for the info, Your right 71310 (typo) is what I used. Do you know if the IH 50 - 70019 is any "Redder"? I would even stray away from the OEM color if I knew a good match. Any suggestions? I think th guys I was comparing to was TSC paint, or possibly NAPA. (Not really sure), just that theirs looked nicer than mine. (Don't they always, when you start feeling proud of yourself?) I think you'll be pleased with the 3822, it's metallic paint that looks nice on the rims....

I have not personally seen 70019, and have heard various opinions. My guess would be that it is not orange -- but, I don't know. Guy Fay's book says that 2150 is a very close match to IH 50. I think paint colors vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. If you happen to have a satellite dish, look at RFD-TV, Direct TV # 379, also on Dish Network, don't know the channel. Several tractor shows, may be my TV set, but most Farmalls have an orange tint.

I considered putting Allis decals on my Super H, but I couldn't figure out what model would best match it.
