I cant remember the brand I used but it required baking in the oven after it dried. It had a powdery feel and could have been rubbed off somewhat before I baked it. Its been holding up real good. I guess the moral of the story is to read the can and if it says to bake the manifold before use, then its a good one. I could have let the engine bake it from exhaust heat, but It would have been messed up from handeling by the time I got everything put back together.

I have used Eastwood's manifold paint in grey color with good success.

My experience with Eastwood's manifold paint is it does OK for idling on and off a trailer but will not last long under the heat of a little work, same as the short list of other manifold paints I tried. Somewhere I read that Eastwood's paint has been improved recently, my experience was 5 years ago. I think Dozer is right in that no paint is going to stay on a cherry red manifold but the best I have found is the grill paint which is also sold as stove black. Outside of cherry red it will stay on and stay black.

Ditto, Eastwood has held up on blasted manifolds on cars for me. All their specialty paints are expensive. Wonder if tractors have higher temps?

I tried several of the special manifold paints with the same reults you have. I now use barbeque grill paint. It doesnt last forever but much longer than the others and is cheap to boot.
