"Standard" PPG numbers for 50/2150 are 70019/71310. Where did you get 71969 or is it a higher line of paint with a different number? Haven't heard of that one.

CN,

A google search on "ppg 71969" brings up this page from a forum where one of the posts (scroll down a bit, also to the right) indicates that ppg 71969 is a GMC truck color used in model year 1980. The old PPG color information that I have for that year confirms that #71969 was indeed used on 1980 Chevrolet/GMC trucks. It is a fairly dark red (to me) according to the color chip. I am not familiar with the IH colors so I can't say if it appears close to IH#50 or not - can't really tell precisely from a color chip anyway. It may have been determined from a computer scan of a sample to get the nearest automotive color formula. The DCC prefix indicates that it is a single stage urethane in PPG's main automotive "DELTRON" line called "Concept Acrylic Urethane". Expect a much higher price than that same number in OMNI MTK. I think (not positive) that the SC suffix is a cost code indicator.

when i went to buy paint for my w30, i went to painters supply in tol, ohio. [automotive paint store]. i asked them for ih #50. this is what i got. dcc71969sc. [ i am not a body or paint expert by any stretch of the word]. have done 2 tractors with it. it is a lighter shade of red than the 2150. has a little orange to it. i will try to post a picture of one i painted for you. pg

Thanks Rod, for looking that up. pg, that is NOT IH 50 -- the only PPG number I have ever seen for IH 50 is 70019. If you like the color, that is fine--that's the problem with paint stores, 3/4 of the time they don't know what they are doing.

pg,

If you have a picture somewhere on your hard disc in .jpg format, it's fairly easy to post. Just go to the "Tractor Photos" section of this site over on the left of the page. From there you select "add your own photo" and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be given a chance to browse your hard disc, locate your photo and upload it to the photo section. That will at least get it available for all to view. Having it show up in a post box here in this forum is a bit more complicated so try to get it in the tractor photo section first. If you have trouble, you certainly can email the picture to me and I will be glad to post it here for you.
