What spray gun would you recommend on a person wanting to spend around $75-$125? I've been told that a Sharpe FineX is a good gun for $100. What other options do I have at this price range. What i'm wanting is something that will give me an OEM quality paint job. Thanks!

I recently bought a new in box Devillbis JGA siphon gun on ebay for $75. I was dizzy over the price, it retails for about $250

I have said it before and will say it again. Buy a Binks Models seven if you want a good gun. They make painting enjoyable, and are well worth the money. Then again I don't like HVLP. They are to slow and take to much air.

What about airless paint sprayers? Are they any good?

No better transfer efficiency in the market than from airless, that means morepaint makes it to the part not into the air, the problem is the spray texture is horrible compared to conventional guns, if thats not an issue, have at-it

Seth makes a good point, HVLP does require a large amount of air, allthough I do prefer a gravity gun over siphon but thats why they make chocolate and vanilla right? DeVilbiss makes an economical gravity gun called Finish line I think it's around 100-150, also check ebay

That's right there is a gun for every preference. I don't like the slow speed, but thin again the paint I use is generally cheap and I don't care if I waste some to over spray. Over spray and waste is a much greater concern at $400 a gallon verses $40.

Isn't the overspray more of an environmental concern rather than a monetary concern for big production shops?

There are a lot of low cost guns on the market right now. The FineX is made offshore by Sharpe, on old line gun maker. It is supposed to be a chineese copy of a much more expensive SATA gun. I haven't really heard any user reports yet but they seem to be selling like hotcakes. If I were in the market for an inexpensive gun, that's where I'd look. I may buy the detail gun 'cuz I want an HVLP detail-sized gun and I want to find out how they are.
