I'm painting with Omni urethane paint does anyone know if you can mix mh167fast and mh168 slow hardeners together so I don't have to buy another can of hardener?

Yes.

We call this practice, "cocktailing".

In the automotive body shops we do this when we need something with cure times in between the rated temps. or mostly when we're close to running out of product.

Depending on the amounts, or ratios of the fast vs. slow product will change the characteristic of your applied finish.

Make sure you use the correct ration of mixed hardner to your paint product.

I've done it before and I know my supplier has told me it's okay.

Hi Dale,

I don't know the answer to your question. My guess would be that you could but that it is not necessary to blend the hardeners. I don't really think it is that critical. My own notes to myself is to use MH167 for temps 60-75 deg F, MH168 for 70-85 deg F and MH169 for 80+ deg F. I believe there is some overlap although I have not contacted PPG about it. If you want a definitive answer, you can ask PPG here. They have been responsive to me in the past with an email question.
