Searched everywhere here and still a little confused. On tractor castings I have degreased and wire brushed the "hidden by body work" areas and used "Extend" with a paint brush. It left the surface a little too streaky, for the rest of the cast iron parts that will show, for my liking. Permatex has a rattle can of Extend that I am planning on using on the areas not hidden by body work. Been planning on wire brushing by hand or with grinder to remove the worst spots and to give some tooth. The paint on the cast parts has good adhesion but has some rust mixed throughout( more on top areas). The spray on Extend says it causes rust to become a primer. What happens on the areas that are not rusty and sprayed with Extend? Does this affect adhesion of paint/or primer? This is going to be work tractor that I want to look nice, not for show. From my search seems about 50/50 on priming cast parts? Some advice please on what to expect. Extend then prime? Extend no prime? I really do not want to strip if avoidable. Again I want it to look nice, does not have to be perfect, I will probably scratch it within 15 minutes of use anyway OH WELL. On body sheet metal I have stripped, primed and am ready to paint. Thanks
