Can anybody tell me whether there is a way of looking up or converting US paint codes for use in Australia.
Most tractors or engines I have are US manufactured so the associated paint codes are obviously US.
PPG, Dupont and other companies codes are not recognised in Australia.
Help
Cheers Brad

Hi Brad
As for Dupont, you can take the code CNKS gave you (7410) and contact the Dupont color dept. at 800-3-Dupont or performancecoatings.dupont.com , They can take that info and convert it to a system called MOBIUS which is a global color reference database, that should be able to give you local info, if that does not work you can ask the color dept for a color standard ( a metal spray out of the color) to mailed to you and have your local paint store take a Chromavision reading and get a formula, they don't always send out those samples but it's worth a try, or, you can always take a piece of the tractor with good paint to the store and have a Chroma vision of that.

You might do as gaspump says and check the web sites or email for info. Frank Stalfire should be able to point you in the right direction for DuPont codes. The IH red codes are IH 50 and IH 2150, in US terms they cross to PPG 70019/Dupont 7410 for 50 and PPG 71310/96766 for 2150. I don't know the current tractor codes. PPG and DuPont do not sell paint in Australia??

I have the same problem right here in the US. Seems old formulas are for outdated paints are difficult to transpose to modern finishes. I did get great results from Duponts web site. Don't remember how except that I searched the vast site, got to auto finishes and found contact them, e-mailed them and got rapid replies and am pleased with the colors.
