I take a piece of cardboard and cut it to fit the under edge of the rim, nice and tight, I just move the cardboard around the rim as I spray, very seldom does any overspray get on the tires....Mike in Exeeter Ontario

It's not often that I paint mounted rims but when I do I run a strip of 1/2" masking tape close to the rim since it bends and conforms easier. Then follow with 1" then I widen things out with wide masking or duct tape depending on which I have in the shop. If you plan on working the tractor and are carefull with the gun thats all you need as over spray will wear off the tread in short order. If its a show boat or you dont trust your gun technique you can use paper and tape to cover the rest of the tire. All in all it's easier to demount the tire plus you can ge a coat of primer inside the rim where it is usualy needed.

Now I painted rims on my tractor (1075) and all I did was take duct tape and put it around the tire. You might wanna put 2 strips of duct tape if you have a gun. I had a spray-paint can. (CHEAP)
