I dismantled my Farmall A, sandblasted the cast parts and wirebrushed them with Picklex. Now that she is reassembled and ready for paint I need to know what ya'll have done to Picklex treated metal to get it ready for painting. There is a gray powder covering everything; do I hand brush it off, wire brush it with a grinder or merely wipe it off with mineral spirits?

The instructions say to do nothing. However, I remove as much as possible with a coarse pad, then go over the whole thing with wax and grease remover. I just don't like painting over any kind of residue. One thing--it has been my observation that the more residue there is, the dirtier the metal. I don't know how important that is, since cast is next to impossible to get clean.
