1948 8N. I have a lot of dents on the front grill sheet metal and the rods in the grill are all bent too. I think a previous owner chased bulls around the field. The steel is thick. Can these dents be pounded out? What do I use to do the pounding? How do I get it smooth? How do I straighten the grill rods? I don't really want to buy new parts - given the state of the Canadian dollar.

One of the secrets of the bodyman is the file. Once you get it basically shapedn run a file over it. Pick up the low spots and tap down the high ones. once it's close, just file it smooth. It looks like you'll file right through sometimes, but just try it on a scrap. It takes a lot more than you think

go buy (unless you have one) a sheet metal hammer kit with dollies, use the hammer to pound against metal with the dolly behind. it takes some practice but after you get the hang of it things will look good, then you might consider some body putty to smooth things over
