I have been reading all the discussions about painting and rust prevention, but have yet to see anyone mention POR-15. A lot of guys who restore cars use this to prevent rust and use as a primer. Does anyone have experience using this on a tractor restoration?

I have used POR 15 and am happy with the results. It dries almost as hard as ceramic and is impossible to sand unless you do it while it is tacky. It is a good idea to use their TieCoat primer before painting. POR 15 goes on very good. Whatever you do, don't get it on your glasses, you will have to throw them away as nothing will clean them!

Well, now POR-15 has a self-etching primer, so you can prime with the POR-15 and then use regular paint for the top coat without having to sand the POR-15!

Using some on a tractor project. POR is a great product but read the directions. Pour what you are going to use in a container and paint from that container. Do not contaminate the main can.

It must be etched or lightly sanded for a top coat to be applied. Other than that, when it dries the surface is hard as a brick!

Once again, read the directions. Let me hear from you after your experience.
