Wish I could remember the brand name I used but it was one that said to bake it to harden and finish drying it. It really looks good and seems to be holding up ok.

Yeah I painted my new manifold with rattle can black manifold paint from a auto parts store, don't remember the brand name ... directions on the can said to bake the paint at a certain temp, to cure it completely... did that in the oven, stunk-up the house, wife was not happy !

Anyway, installed manifold, then painted the whole tractor with tractor paint.. including the manifold, for that "original look".
The tractor paint on the manifold lasted about 30 minutes when I fired 'er up and started burning and turning colors and blistering. After a while it started to peel off where is was hottest, leaving the black paint exposed in places.
Actually looks quite nice and pretty much original looking. I've got a years use on it now... no rust.
Good luck!

I have tried a host of manifold paints including every auto parts store brand and the high buck stuff from Eastwood. All of them wil stay on long enough to get the tractor from the trailer to a parking space or pull a float at a parade. I work my show tractors on the plow once or twice a year and the only thing I have found that will stay is plain ol cheap barbeque grill paint and it burns off of the areas that get red hot. Color choices are your favorite shade of black. The guys that show the green things and looking for that prized expo look are getting their manifolds porcinalized (spelling?) A glazed surface that will withstand heat but is very expensive to do, so I have been told.

I beleive if you search some of the aftermarket auto suppliers you will find exhaust paint/polymers that are quality. Eastwood company sells them and you can get them in a couple of colors. Just becuase it wasn't painted from the factory doesn't mean you shouldn't now. We have the technology in paints/polymers now so why not paint it? I plan on painting any of mine that I can. You can be a purist, but purist buy manifolds instead of paint.

If you want to use a high temp coating, that's up to you, depends on how much of a purist you are, or what you want the finished product to look like. Exhaust manifolds at the factory were painted with the same paint as the rest of the tractor. The paint soon burns off -- that's what I prefer, as a painted mainifold does not look OEM to me. Only my opinion.
