Jason, I am not surprised at the difference between the OMNI and Concept urethanes. The Concept is the high end and the OMNI the low end, relatively speaking, in PPG's single stage urethane lines. I haven't used any Concept but the thing I have noticed about the difference between PPG's high and low end products is coverage and color matching. You can expect to use an additional coat with the OMNI for similar coverage and if you are panel-matching a car paint, the match is not quite as good. If you are doing overalls however, the lower cost of the OMNI (even considering an extra coat) makes it an excellent choice, IMO. I am somewhat surprised at the cost difference between the OMNI and the Nason. Nason is DuPont's "economy" or "value" line and I would have expected it to be more in line with the cost of the OMNI. The NAPA price for the AE also seems to be high. I don't know which line in Martin Senour you are talking about though. If it's a higher-end product comparable to PPG's Delstar or DuPont's Centari, then it probably is not that bad. I don't know why the better acrylic enamels are currently priced so high. They are rapidly going the way of the Dodo bird for most automotive work though. Perhaps it's due to environmental issues with the solvents or simply supply and demand pressures. Delstar is no longer available in my area, having been effectively "replaced" by the OMNI MAE. Centari still is but I don't know for how much longer. Differences in pricing policy between jobbers can also frustrate accurate cost comparisons, although one would expect competition would minimize such differences in the same geographic area. Rod
