I have purchased a 48 Super A with a plow and mounted cultivator. I would like to pait the plow and cultivator first. What color of blue should I use for the cultivator? The plow is it painted blue too? Where can I get good quality paint for this project. The tractor will follow in the fall.

Thanks

My source says the blue color is IH 1150B -- no guarantees as I have never painted a cultivator -- ask on the Farmall forum. The correct red for your tractor is IH 50, not available from Case-IH, crosses to PPG 70019 or DuPont 7410. Use acrylic enamel or acrylic urethane from either of these two companies, or Sherwin Williams or Martin Senour. Don't buy from tractor stores. If you use acrylic urethane or hardener with acrylic enamel, you need a supplied air system. If you use acrylic enamel without hardener a charcoal mask is ok. Use an epoxy primer on your cultivator and the cast parts of the tractor. On the tractor sheet metal followed by a sandable surfacer over the epoxy for a smooth finish. Best to buy everything from the same manufacturer.

Should read "Use epoxy primer on the tractor sheet metal followed by ---". As to the plow it was likely more than one color, cutivator may be also, someone on the Farmall forum will know.
