clearly sata is the better of the two, but is the extra money worth it for a sata gun. there are some really nice used sharpie guns on ebay. i will be repainting an allis chalmers, then possibly a john deere, with clear coat. which gun is better.

Sata has one of the best reputations of any gun. That said, I"ve had Sharpe"s for years and like them. The Platnum is a high end gun. They go used on eBay for moderate prices. It is actually available new but it is now a Snap-On exclusive line at $500+.
Unless you have quite a bit of experience painting, you likely won"t notice a difference between any of the "good" guns.

Before you do anything check www.sharpe1.com, I believe that is the correct address -- they have refurbished guns for maybe half the price of new. Used to sell Sharpe Platinums, that gun was discontinued, but if still available is all you will ever need. I think you need to be an expert painter to need anything better than that.

What model's are you comparing ?
You can't compare a low end Sata to a high end sharp ?
