I've got a pickup I'm going to repaint. I bought it and ended up doing more work to it than I had expected, so I going to repaint it also. I have a couple of pickups so it won't probably be used as a farm pickup. I haven't used any PPG paints before but one of the auto supply stores that I use has been bugging me to try PPG, and is willing to sell me paint at body shop price He is very knowlegable about paints (does some of his own painting)and seems to be cost concious too. I was going to use a base coat clear coat, probably not Omni, but he wants me to try a Delfleet paint. It is supposed to be more industrial, but he has guite a few people paing semi's and other vehicles with it and he just repainted his own dually pickup with it. Anyone used it and are you happy with it.

My limited knowledge about fleet paints is that they are cheaper, because the owners of the "fleet" don't want to spend a lot of money on paint, and will probably not keep their trucks for a long period of time (so why do they bother to repaint them). Base coat/clear coat likely has a higher gloss -- Otherwise, I don't know. Look at his pickup and decide. Also ask him if it has the durability and fade resistance of bc/cc. There are other people on this board that know far more than I do. My point is to ask your buddy why he thinks Delfleet is so great.

I priced some Delfleet and it is not a cheap paint. If they are into repainting, a lot of fleets want: easy, minimal prep, easy to apply - usually single stage, very good durability, and it helps if it looks like a million dollars. Stuff like Rayflex is bottom end fleet paint but I think the PPG stuff is pretty good

Good -- I responded to this post because no one else had -- I was hoping someone that knows about fleet paints would answer. Is Delfleet acrylic enamel, or acrylic urethane? When PPG puts "Del" in one of their names it usually means $$, I thought about that when I posted, probably should have worded my response differently.

It is polyurethane. The pickup the dealer painted looked nice but it was white which is a hard color to judge.
