JBWeld or rust converter first?

I am restoring some rims for a sickle bar mower that are very pitted. I am going to use some JBWeld to fill in the pits and I want to use rust converter to prep the rest before I paint them. Does it matter which I put on first?

John, it probably depends on what type of rust converter you are going to use & whether or not you re-sandblast before using the filler.
~Normal body filler doesn't stick worth a darn over rust killer/converter. ~Probably to do it correctly you should sand blast, then kill the rust, then re-sandblast, then use the JBWeld or better yet a 2 part epoxy body filler.

I'm using Mar-Hyde one step in spray cans because I'm only doing a few parts at a time. I should have been a bit more specific as it's the inside of the rim that is the problem,(the part where the inner tube is) I don't know if that makes a big difference. My plan is to fill in the pitts and sand the surface smooth and repaint it.

Kind of depends on what you have on the wheels. If you sandblast the metal clean of rust, then the JB makes good sense then. The rust converter will need some rust to work and usually says so on the container. If you have rusty surfaces, then I would put the converter on then fill in with the JB.

After sandblasting I use rust converter. It is
a must to kill all rust before any repairs or primers are done.
