Is powder coating a good choice for high heat areas, like manifolds?

Thanks

This may sound odd but the smokestacks on steam locomotives are often brushed with a mixture of oil and graphite which produces a nice hard grey to black paint-like coating that lasts fairly well and stands up to the heat. I'll check into it further for proportions (since I've not done it) but I believe that it is painted on with a brush or rag while the smokebox is good and hot. It'll smoke like hell (literally) but when that clears up, the finish is quite nice. I'll bet that it would work on a manifold.

Ceramic coating is a better choice.

How is ceramic coating applied? What is the price compared to powder coating?

Thanks

A good but expensive choice. Best choice if money is important is a high temp mainfold paint. Just my thoughts.
