I have a 1963 ford 2000 and I was just wondering if I should use enamel on it or the enamel with the hardener or should I go with actual engine paint for hi temp.

Thanks Steve

If your going to do all the work of cleaning it up and doing a good job spend a couple of bucks more and use an epoxy primer and urathane paint. I've done more than several engines over the years and the better the paint you use the better it stands up. If you want to stay on the cheap route try some Zero Rust, several guys have used it on engines and have been happy with it.

stear clear of hi temp paint in a spray can, it is a waste of time, Do go with a good quality paint if you want the job lasting, I work for Dupont and can only comment on our paints, any manufactuer you choose to go with should be able to provide you with the info you need, as for Dupont, Fleet Imron ( Imron 5000) will be good till around 300 degrees, Centari will go to about 350, Industrial Imron will go to 350, there is a high temp industrial that will go 500 continuous and take spikes up to 1000 but it is only available in gray. If you think about it the motor never gets hotter than the water temp except around the exhaust ports.
