I am going to tear down My tractor 1 piece at a time. I would like to clean and prime as I go . On the small parts I would like to use a primer out of a spray can so I would not have to clean up after each piece. Is this o.k. to use? I may not get around to the fimish coat for a while but it would be in a dry location.

No. Either use epoxy primer with a spray gun, or use a rust protectant such as Picklex 20. In addition to the spray can primer being of low quality, it may not compatible with the topcoat you decide to use.

Doesn"t the epoxy primer need to be top coated within a short time after application? If so, you probably wouldn"t want to leave yor parts sit around several months before painting them.

Has to be scuffed and reapplied.
