I have purchased a 22-36, sn 145554M (1930?). I"m the third owner and know it"s history since new. This tractor shows as being red allover and does not appear to have been repainted, however anywhere the red paint is chipped or faded the color is green, again allover. Is the green some form of primer? Is red the correct color.Every model 22-36 I"ve ever seen was gray.I would like to restore to correct color.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,Ed

Gray is the correct color, but I do not know if the correct color code exists. If green, it was probably used as some sort of an industrial tractor, perhaps not if you know its history. IH generally did not use primer. Although I said gray is the "correct" color, IH would paint a tractor any color the buyer wanted.

There is a post currently on the Farmall board that says the DuPont code is 98620 (Frank Stalfire) and the PPG code 30010 (Rudi). To confuse matters, and also to contradict what I said in the above post, there is a green in some data Frank sent me -- 84155 UAD --I suppose that is a possibility, but I know nothing about it.

CNKS, I have a friend that asked me to see if I could find him the paint code for the green paint on his W30 Farmall. Do you suppose that Dupont you mentioned above could be it? He said it appears to be a dark green.

I don't know anything about the greens, and very little about gray, it was just a number in a list that Frank sent me. Perhaps Frank will answer if he reads this post. On tractors that old, it may be difficult to get the correct code, but someone, somewhere, will know it.

Has anyone said anything about if the Farmall gray and the gray used on the McCormicks are different? I also think I remember someone talking about the McCormicks that were for export being painted red before the 1936 decision. Sounds like a Guy Fay question.
