I am a NOVICE. Been messing around with the 2150 on some small items and have noticed that it takes forever to get hard. Even after 3 weeks, if you handle the piece too much it will fingerprint. Will it ever harden? Is that why hardeners are used?

Use a auto store acrylic enamel reducer I use medium dry. I also use hardener but you should be fine with the reducer alone. It should be dry to work with after 24 hr's

My guess would be that you are either putting it on too thick, the temperature is too cold or both. I have not used that specific paint, but others have had success with it. It is supposedly acrylic enamel. If you are following the application instructions as to number of coats, amount of reducer, the correct application temperature, etc and still get those results, I don't have an answer. Yes, hardener makes it cure faster, but it should be useable without hardener. The link is for PPG Omni acrylic enamel, used without hardener. This is an excellent "economy" paint that costs roughly twice as much as 2150. Used as the spec sheet says, it drys fast -- not fully cured, which can take several months, but useable. The sheet may give you some general ideas about how the paint should be applied.
