I am going to paint my loader in a couple weeks when the weather becomes warmer. I am hoping to do a good job on it because it will be used and will be kept outside. What is a good primer to put on the metal first. Are there better primers? What kind of paint do I want to put on for a finish coat. I will be painting it red to match a Ford 8N red belly. I plan on painting it with a spray gun and compressor. How will I know how much to thin the paint so I can spray it through the gun?

Use an epoxy primer such as PPG Omni MP 170. Follow with PPG Omni acrylic enamel (I assume you don't want to spend $500 on a supplied air system, the AE does not have to have hardener). Scroll down in the link until you see MAE acrylic enamel and MP 170 epoxy primer. These are spec sheets that have exact mixing instructions. DuPont makes equivalent products in their Nason line. Otherwise you can use the lower quality Ford paint from your dealer -- I know nothing about it, as far as mixing.
