Red paint costs more than other colors.

Stay away from the paint sold by farm stores and hardware stores, it is synthetic enamel and will fade rapidly. Paint from PPG, DuPont, Sherwin Williams, and Martin Senour (NAPA), in the form of acrylic enamel, or better, acrylic urethane (supplied air system required) is much better. You might ask about the quantity on the Massey forum on this site-, but about a gallon of topcoat should do it. You also need an epoxy primer for the whole tractor and a sandable surfacer for the sheet metal.

I have found that "imron" paint is costly, but it seems the easiest to apply and is basically sun-proof. We had a Cockshutt 40 that we painted and it stood outside in the sun for 7 years and it was as shiny as when it was painted. It had a nice "wet" look and was maintainance free.

Isn,t imron fairly dangerous thought you had to have an air supply respirator etc.
