Have noticed that some of the areas I have painted look faded. Almost like a dull haze over the area. Not all but some. Any ideas as to why this has happened.

Also, need some suggestions on how to bring it back to the shinny red. Wet sand and the buff?

I get that problem on cast areas that are next to impossible to paint using the correct technique. Usually you are supposed to overlap 50% and not give it another coat until it flashes. If you paint a hard to paint irregular surface and give it a second coat before it flashes "just to be sure you got it all covered", you get what is called "dieback", and, as you have noticed, it fades. This may not occur immediately, but several days/weeks/months later. I currently have some on cast painted over a year ago that I am considering using a mild rubbing compound on, will probably just try wax first. IMO the cast does not have to be perfect. You can try the sanding and buffing on the sheet metal if you want, would be hard to do on cast. I have had very little experience sanding and buffing, if it were mine I would try to find a hand rub compound first, without sanding. If you used hardener you may have success. If you used acrylic enamel without hardener, I don't think there is much you can do unless it is fully cured (several months), then it may not work. This has been my experience, you could have a different problem. I have heard that painting in high humidity will cause that problem, also.

Thanks for your response. Hit me like a sledge hammer when you said hazing on the cast. This is where it has dulled.

Houston is very humid. Think I may buy a buffer and try to compound and wax the areas.

Said it about Rod and will say it about you as well--You are a true treasure. Thanks for you help.
