I am quite a novice at this, so my appologies up front if this is a dumb question. I recently painted the rims on a B Farmall. I used the TSC silver paint and mixed Valspar?? hardner as the directions indicated. The paint went on great and looked very good. I put on three coats. Now about three weeks later, I notice when I rub my hand over the rim I get silver paint similar to chalk dust consistancy. Any ideas? What do I do, or not do next time? I am getting close to painting the rest of the tractor and I don't want the paint to rub off!

Thanks

Check the cans for product discription, sounds like you used reducer and not hardener, you could put hardener in base coat and not have ity rub off so I don't think you where using hardener. Let me know what you find, I am interested.

Frank,

It is Valspar hardener from Tractor Supply.

Maybe what rubs off is just overspray? I took a rag and rubbed one of the rims and it picked up some, but not an excessive amount. Is that normal? Juat want to make sure before I get into painting the rest of the tractor.
