I was painting outside with silver enamel paint and a spray gun and I have experienced repeated clogging in the nozzle of the gun and dry spray and orange peel on the surface of the parts. The conditions were not the best. The humidity was high and there was breeze that I had to contend with. Is there something I should be doing differently with silver paint? I have used the same spray gun and pressures applying other colors (reds) without the amount of problems I have been having with the silver.

You didn't thin the silver paint enough! Also, silver paint can't be applied the same as regular red, white, blue, etc. It has to be applied in several medium coats, letting it flash dry, then it must be misted with more, a little more reduced, paint. And, don't get it too wet--it will get a blotched look! (light and dark places!) Also--watch what is down-wind of the painting area. Silver carries a long way on the wind currents, and you can paint yer neighbor's Mercedes the same color of yer tractor, with only a little wind blowing! by: Rustyj
