Forget codes, etc....if your current jobber cannot replicate the color the former employee produced-it is almost certain he did so without regard to formulating his progress...only someone well-versed in color theory will be able to duplicate his color. Your best bet is to steer clear of this jobber (as it seems no one can match your custom color) and find a mail-order PPG jobber who can replicate it. By the way, why clearcoat ALK 200 when you can step up to AUE300 and produce a show-quality finish regardless of your original intent?...or use automotive-grade (concept) to begin with?

Tommy,

I show several different PPG code numbers for JD green in the list I put together. It may not be completely up-to-date. I am not familiar with JD colors so I have no idea which, if any, of those listed is the "correct" one for you. If you have a can left over from a previous job that you know was correct, it would be best to get the code number off of it - or the actual formula if your previous paint guy used a one-of-a-kind custom formula instead of one of the standard PPG formulas. Of course the JD dealer himself is likely the source for the best color match. If you get the paint from them, they will have no reason to complain...now will they?

Rod, just as a consideration, I just painted two JD H's and have found that 40249 LONG FORMULA is closer, if not correct for classic JD Green. The short, three color formula is very close, if not correct, for the new JD Green. As far as 47190, I have no idea what it may look like.

i just hate the slow drying of the oem tractor paints . i have been using alk200 with hardner ,and i put clear over the alk on the high end jobs. the dealer i work for is a massey and used tractor dealer ,he has a full time job and i do too, so we need the fast drying .thanks, ill try your list.
