I just bought a pint of MH202 Omni hardener, I used painters pride 747 before but the paint supply store doesnt carry that anymore. I allways used 747 with IH 2150 and JD paints with excellent results, The guy told me that this MH202 is the same? But it seams ALOT thinner sounds like water in the can, 747 was like 20w-50 oil!

An extremely simple answer can be found by comparing the ingredients labels of the two hardeners. Gauging what I know of the two, the hardeners will be compatible although no jobber will guarantee it. The most noticable differance between the ingreidients will be the solvents (which do not matter). Most likely the only difference will be the ratio. If the hardener seems thinner, add more hardener and less thinner...etc.

You're on your own with MH 202 -- I don't know. 2150 is "acrylic modified" alkyd enamel. MH202 is a high gloss hardener to use with Omni MAE acrylic enamel. I have only limited experience with MAE, preferring instead to use Omni MTK acrylic urethane. I used MH 101, their regular hardener, with MAE on my C and SH rims, looks ok to me. Other than a few other pieces, I haven't used it. I don't think the thick or thin makes any difference. You can now purchase hardener made specifically for CIH 2150 -- why not use it? Some dealers have never heard of it, but they should be able to order it.

The 747 painters pride I used before was for acrylic enamel works great with 2150, does the Omni MTK use a different hardener then the MAE?

Yes, the acrylic urethane hardener is different from the acrylic enamel hardener. My guess would be that 202 would be ok with 2150, but I have had no experience with it. An advantage of the more expensive paints, even in the economy lines is that they (Omni, Nason, etc) are a line of compatible products, and the instuctions are spelled out so that there is little, if any, guesswork as to what product works with another.
