Looked up the archives and am I ready to buy a fresh air system because I use hardeners with isos. Most of the paints today require hardeners to produce the durability we desire. My question is that I sand blast outside in my driveway using Silica sand, would the fresh air hood also be a benefit when working with sand? Fresh air in = no silica in?
I use a 3m respirator now when sandblasting but relize I probably need an upgrade there as well. Yes I know I need a cabinet, jsut too many items to buy at once.
Thanks
John

I got the Hobby-Air 80' system with a half mask so I could use it both beneath the sand blast hood and the paint hood. I didn't know how well the supplied air hood would work for sandblasting and the supplied air sandblasting hood is $$$, the paint hood wasn't too bad ~$35 so I went with the half mask.

It sounds like CNKS uses his supplied air hood for both painting and sandblasting.

Bought mine from Autobodystore -- I got a hood they call a Len Stuart special, he owns autobody store. Hood is tyvec, not designed for blasting, but it's fine for my limited use. The tyvec part is replacable, you keep the old framework. When I'm ready to paint, I use new tyvec. Full hood because iso's are attracted to moisture, namely your eyes. Also, the air hose is in the rear, thus out of the way.

I blast that way, with a hood and tearoffs, the tearoffs do not last long, so you will need a bunch. Put the intake upwind, and make sure that you do not have any dust wrapping around to the intake -- otherwise you get a straight shot of silica, not good -- same thing only worse with iso's.
