While atempting to remove a hawk from the garage today I noticed that the axle/brake job on my allis G has not spontaneously finshed itself, futher delaying my painting of this machine. This was SUPPOSED to be a quick repair and on to paint (long story short, testing me for lyme). How are you guys making out, had some nice weather today Rod.

It has been to hot and humid here in Georgia to paint. I have only the grill and hood to paint and my 46 A will be finished, but I'm going to have to wait for late September or early October. It's distressing to find green fuzzy mold growing on your brand new wiring harness. Maybe I should air condition the shop...

Hope to get started on my IH 460 in by the last week in Sept -- working on cleaning parts. I say "started" because the tractor is totally disassembled except for the transmission. Parts laying all over the place. Will paint everything separately and reassemble. It will take a long time.

We sure did. Another nice one today also. The next two months are the best time of the year IMO. Nice time for painting too. I'll be doing some painting, but not the same kind. It'll be more trim painting, or rather re-painting, on the house trim this fall. It's not fun but it needs to get done. Another fall project is to do some tuckpointing and recapping on two of my chimneys. I'm building the staging for that now. They stand 6 feet above the ridge so a staging is necessary. I am also considering painting them with SW Duration latex. I am trying to sort through the pros and cons of painting chimneys - the practice seems rather controversial. If anyone has comments on such a thing, I'm all ears.

I take it the hawk was dead. Are you thinking Eastern Equine E from mosquitos or lyme from ticks? It's been a reasonably quiet tick year here. No where near as bad as last year. I've heard about a few dead crows and people sick with Encephalitis over around Concord lately.

no hawk just was having trouble figuring out how to leave. Kept confusing the windows, 4X8 glass for the door. He grab a sparow and spent the night in the rafters.

I"ve been wanting to get my moldboard plow cleaned up and painted for a plowdays this fall. It has been so hot in southwest Michigan this year I just haven"t felt like doing much after work. I guess I got inspired a few weeks ago the plow is almost done with plowdays on Sept. 3rd.

Well, the rain finally stopped here, so i painted the new-used front fender on my wife's Buick, and spotted in the rear quarter panels where they had some surface rust! I used Acrylic laquer for the job, with a base of gray laquer primer. I used the base coat-clear coat paint, which made a nice finish, good match, and i didn't get all choked up by the paint, although i did use my charcoal filter mask! But--when i started in auto body work, i could buy a quart of laquer paint, any color, for about $2.50. This time, a quart of color, a quart of clear, 3 sheets of wet-or-dry sand-paper, a scuff pad, and a roll of tape cost $117! OUCH--!! I think the high cost of paint is to discourage back yard body men and painters from doing any kind of work at home! A man stopped one day to ask me to fix a dent in his drivers door. When i told him how much the paint would cost, he decided that dent wasn't so bad after all! Rustyj
