Very likely. Lead is more of a problem for children than adults (so I have read), unless you are exposed to it repeatedly. But, I usually wear a mask with prefilters when removing it. I don't like breathing the dust and other crud, lead or not.

Thanks for the info. I have a hard time getting a mask or a respirator to fit. I did alot of sanding down to metal today. And streaks where there was leakage....nose full of crud. So I got a heavy dose today. That concerns me to find out bout lead.

you dont need to be very worried ,a little leaded paint is not going to kill you ,just get a good mask and keep on going .the 3m bodyman mask is a good one .it is not good to brethe any kind of dust ,leaded or unleaded .if you wear a mask the night after you do sanding is more pleasent.

Lead paint can hurt adults as well as children. Most industrial paints contain lead. Lead wasn't banned in house paints until 1978. It is more of a concern with children 6 yrs old and younger. It may not hurt you but if you have young children they could potentially get exposed from your work clothing!! Second dust masks do not work for lead very well. You should wear a respirator with a P-100 HEPA filters. These filters are purple in color and you can buy respirators and filters at Home Depot, etc.
