I believe it is all dependent on the dealers practices . Short of having my dealer pull all new cans of toners, mix them well and then mix a batch up (which will never happen) the world may never know. Of coursee it could be that when PPG developed the formula, they chose a bad exapmle to follow but I doubt it. A fellow named Cliff, I believe, shot a machine in a ppg omni ureathane and it looked right to me. The only thing I know is this; If your going to use 71310, get samples made and look atit under a few different lighting conditions and when you find the right color, get it mixed. During my torture test, I finally found that, the color that was the closet red (but still not perfect)and not orange was shy 7 parts orange. I suspect that 7 parts less orange "made up with 7 parts red is the ticket and I will find out shortly. Who knows there is probably new and maby better mixed cans of toner in the rack by now and everything could be different. Thats why I say "get it mixed", and get more than you'll use too. Ive been trying to get back up to the paint store and probably will later this week. Ill post pics after the main part is painted (still replaceng gaskets) I am surprised at what kind of condition this machine is in. There was very little ridge in the cylinders, -.004 max and the guides are still well within limits. After I scraped of a little carbon, I wondered if that was thre right thing to do, now that all we have is unleaded gas. We shall see about the whole mess shortly though. scott#2
