I guess this question goes here. At least the topic is related to IH. I have a 68' Scout 800 that had the radio removed from the metal dash by the PO. Removed is a nice term. He bent the heck out of the dash getting the radio out. Anyway, I have a new, stock radio ready to go back in. I now need to get the metal back to its original shape. Thankfully, a trim piece will go over my fixing efforts. Can you guys give me any tips on how to get the metal back to where it should be? It is not cut or torn, just bent.

Thanks, Phlogiston

Try using vise-grip pliers. Clamp the tin in the jaws and carefully bend the tin back out to shape. To do this trick, you must use a sort of push-pull lever action. Grip the vise-grips up near the jaws, and then with the other hand, while pulling out with the upper hand, push in with the lower hand. you need a strong pull, but i have straightened some places like that by this method. It might sound a bit goofy, but try it--it works! RJ
