I have been using the old faithful pressure spray paint guns for many years on the rare occassion that I need to paint. Can anyone give me any information on the effectiveness of the HVLP gun? I am getting ready to paint an old tractor in my attached garage of my home. I want as little overspray as possible, as little fumes in the house, and a good coverage of paint. What is your take on the HVLP stuff?

I use HVLP and like it. IMO they are more forgiving than the other type, and easier to use. You may not like one because it takes a different technique, slower and perhaps closer to the part you are painting. In other words an adjustment of your painting style. They do have less overspray, but still have a lot and in an unventilated garage, the garage will still be completely full of fumes. They are definitely not fumeless, and I guarantee you there will be fumes in the house, no matter which gun you use.
