Procure a large soldering iron that you can heat on a gas stove, or with your acetylene torch, or something like it. clean the paint off the tank down in the dent, about 3 inches around. Procure a large flat washer, and a steel rod that will fit loosely thru the washer.(Keep heating source away from gas tank!) "Tin" the washer with acid core solder, and also the dent in the tank. Then, using the pre-heated soldering iron (work quickly, re-heat often) solder the washer onto the tank, in the bottom of the dent. Washer standing up, on edge! After all is cool, put the rod thru the washer, putting one end on a block of wood, or a flat board. By lifting the other end, you must tap the metal around the outside of the dent, until you have pulled out as much as possible. Then grind and fill with plastic filler, sand and contour it until it feels and looks good. clean solder with metal-prep, then wash with mineral spirits, prime, putty, then when all is ready--paint it!
