I was in the local O'Reilly's today to get a few parts and looked through their sale flyer. They have some paint called Nason Acrylic Enamel in colors for John Deere, International, Cat and a few others for $30.00/gallon. Is this stufff any good? It says to use a few ounces of hardener per gallon.

If it's worth using, is it going to fade or change colors in a couple of years? I've seen some JD green tractors that looked blue after a couple of years, i don't want any part of that. I'm not looking for a prize winner, but I want something that's reasonably close to the right color. I mostly want something to keep it from rusting, to protect it a little.

It sounds awfully cheap, do you guys know if it's any good?

Kerry

I'm not familiar with all of the Nason line from DuPont. Are you sure that is acrylic enamel, sounds too cheap as you say -- It may be alkyd (synthetic)enamel, that will fade. I believe DuPont and PPG, etc, still sell that paint pre-mixed. Acrylic enamel is usually mixed to the color you want at the dealer, and will cost more like $70 +/-.

Im shooting Nason 2k Urethane on a JD right now. Im a big fan of Nason paint. Its real tuff wont fade and shines like a clear coat. I paid around $120/ gal, $35/hardner, $25/reducer. I like the Urethane system starting with the Etch primer, followed buy the Urethane primer surfacer then 2k paint. I hate to paint so I use stuff that will last in my lifetime. Better get a space suit if you shoot it. Stuff will kill ya dead.

Thanks for the info, I thought it sounded awfully cheap. I didn't get to look at the can, just saw the ad. I'll keep that in mind, I'd hate to paint my tractor JD green and have it turn greenish-blue after a couple of years.

Thanks,
Kerry
