I was looking real hard at the 7.5 hp unit. Any comments, etc? Good for sand blasting?

Hmm....

Looked all over the site and couldn't find where they are made or what the amps are.

Lot of references to "we make" and "factory", and a couple of pictures of red white and blue compressors, so my bet is China. Hey, the quality of Chinese machinery is getting better by the day so that's not a problem, but I like vendors to be straight with me.

Re amps, since everyone cheats on HP ratings, the only valid measure of power is amperage. So I get suspicious anytime someone lists a HP rating and no amps.

Actually, their made right in Ohio by a family owned business. Click on a compressor model and read the specs. After addl. research I am looking at the 10 hp 120 gallon model, but with the 3 cylinder pump, not the v4. Do a search on ebay, Eatom compressor and theres more info there as well. Actually a great buy for a loaded quality compressor.

Scott,

I have the equivalent to the 7.5 hp V4 120 gal compressor. It was put together by my uncle who used to sell a ton of them. The pumps for the V4 compressors and the 2cyl ones that look related are made in China. Saylor Beal tried to set up in china a long time ago ~80's. It didn't pan out - the Chinese couldn't do the castings very well at the time. They have since improved over the last 20 odd years and are a good unit. There are a few outfits arount the US that assemble compressors using these pumps. I believe mine would be realated to the Industrial Air / Industrial Gold brands that were/are made in Kansas / Missouri.

I have seen in several forums that the guys that have bought the Eaton compressors have been very happy with them.

The 26 cfm is similar to mine -- adequate, but not outstanding, it depends on how fast you want to get done. A scan of the specs does not indicate that it has a 100% duty cycle, mine doesn't either, wish it did. The manufacturer told me I could run it about 15 minutes at a time, when refilling my sandblaster, that's about how long it gets run. With a Quincy (more $$ for the same CFM) you won't go wrong. The compressor is probably ok, but I don't consider it a heavy duty, run for long periods of time type compressor, mine isn't either, but I'm satisfied with it.
