Paint bubbling and peeling off HELP !!!!!

I primed the bonet with red oxide and allowed it to dry for a day or so.
I then lightly sanded it off smooth and sprayed it with fordson empire blue (Farm Speed) mixed with the correct thinner.
When it began to dry the paint began to bubble up in patches and peel off.

Any help on why this happened. Is it to do with me smoothing off the red oxide with fine paper.

Thanks

It should have nothing to do with your smoothing the primer with sandpaper. Sounds to me like it was a simple case of using incompatible materials. Are your absolutely sure the primer you used was exactly the one recommended on the label of your topcoat paint? Also are you absolutely sure the thinner used was exactly the one indicated on the label...and in the correct ratio? Are you painting in colder temperatures than recommended? Are you sure the primer was fully cured? Are you sure all instructions on the primer label were followed? Any other additives used not called for on the label?

There is no quick answer to your obvious problem. Any of the above issues could be wholly or partially responsible.
