I am restoring a 1952 Ford 8N. When I started to order paint, I notice that there are two colors of grey that are available. There is a medium grey and a dark grey. The question is which shade was used on the 1952 8N? Also was there only one shade of red used?

All 8ns were painted the same shade of red with light grey sheet metal. The light grey color sheet metal and red casting came after Ferguson and Ford split up. They were first produced in 1948 thus the 8n designation. The 9ns were first produced in 1939 giving them the 9n designation. a few 2ns were made during WWII. These tractors were painted dark grey, the same as the 9n. they were first made in 1942 They were on steel because of the rubber shortage during the war. They had no battery or starter.

You didn't mention which brand paint you're considering but I've read that TISCO medium is a good match.

I just finished a 51 8N using Nason Acrylic mixed to match some original paint I found in a protected area of the sheet metal. I would call it a medium to light grey. It's actually a little lighter that it appears in the pic.

This may not help much since I don't know how it compares to other brands or shades but I think (others may disagree) that this is pretty close to the original.
