Purchased a Pierce Governor for 301 IHC engine, having trouble getting it to work on the motor. So far only able to get it to run at 2400 RPM won't idle. Getting zero help from the person I bought from on Ebay. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to make it work. Thanks in advance.

Add a spring on the arm going to the throtle rod to put tension on it and they work great. Have seen several of them like that.

All you have to do is put a demand arm on it and it will work just like a tractor gov. the guys with 800s do this all the time when they put them in tractors.

The spring that puts tension on the arm going to the carb is hooked to an arm that is adjusted by a set screw. I just weld an extension on above the pivot point of the arm that is adjusted by the screw. Then i cut off the boss that holds the set screw so it doesnt interfere with the travel. This becomes the demand arm that hooks to your throttle. Then weld the arm solid that goes out to the carb.

If that was a yellow Governor, you got screwed. It is a constant speed governor from a MM power unit. Worth about $50.

Yep, it is yellow looks like I got screwed. I will make sure everyone on E-bay know that the seller can't be trusted.

Thanks.

I did email him 3 different times and told him that it was NOT an IH governor. I told him it was a MM power unit gov.
