What's the biggest engine you can put in one of these tractors. I thought it might be the 466. Would you guys think that the six cylinder would be better to build for pulling or would you go with one of the V8 Internationals. I think its a 1468 maybe??? Thanks

I would get a 466 engine and put john deere 6030 pistons and rods in there. This brings the tractor to 570 cubic inches. We have a 1468 on the farm that I work on and they have no power. I know there is a 8 wheeler tractor that comes with the 800 ci engine thats a v8. The 1468 have 550 ci but no torque.

Also John Deere G pistons are good in a 1466 for more horsepower in the DT-466 engine also a 1468 is not really a good tractor for pulling with there's a couple around in the NTPA Super Farm class but there not really that good.

A 466 can be bored alot mine is 570 with plenty of room for more. Don't build a V-8 they will not run like a six cyl. IH's are tough to beat oh well were just there for fun. Thanks

John check into some hypermax goodies for the six cylinders. They are great fun and the possibilities are almost endless for more power.
