I have an 37 B that needs new pistons just woundering what kind of auto pistons will work, or other tractor pistons, want more hp, can have the rods, sized, longer or shorter, want to go as big as possible, well almost Thanks Andy

Andy..easy way is to use 39-40 styled pistons..same wrist pin and 1/4 inch over.. same compression height..39-40 crank 1/4 inch longer..differnt clutch..another way is wd9..4.400 bore and about 3/4 inch taller..super wd9 4.500 and same height..have to redo wrist pins..lynn

I'm not an expert on building pulling tractors, but I'll throw my two cents in. You need to consider several other factors when you're planning out the engine. Simply installing the biggest pistons you can find isn't going to give you the best performance. You need to consider other factors, like head work, carburetion, ignition, whether you want to run stock rpm, what classes and divisions you want to pull. All of these things work together to create a competitive tractor. I'd hate to see you spend the money on big pistons and a bore job or powerblock, and then find that you don't have enough carb to fuel it, too high of a compression ratio, etc.
