I have a stock farmall M and was wanting to know what were the best parts to make a 100+hp puller. What is the biggest size piston you can put in an M? Who makes the best pistons for the most hp? Will a 450 carb bolt on to an M?, and how do they compare to one from Dennys? Who makes the best intake/exhaust systems? Who has stroker kits and how do they compare?
Any help appreciated, BD

Dont go to dennys he has overpriced junk! I bought a stroker kit off of denny he said with his carb and distributor it would give me 120hp. well boy was he wrong it put me at about 91hp. i paid $ 3,500 and only gained 28hp what a rip. stay away from denny what ever you do.

BD, Denny's is okay, but there are other builders that should be considered too. Pick up an issue of The Hook, there are several builders in there that should be looked at too. If you want to pull in a stock class, be careful, too much hp/torque on uncut tires isn't a pretty sight. Most 248 cid blocks will bore to 4.250 with sleeves, after that there's a 50/50 chance you'll hit water. A 450 cam/head/manifold and an 806 carb are good choices. Also, spent some time/money to make the head/manifold flow well. Borrow or rent a dyno and track your progress as you go. Good Luck.
